The Geelong Peace Memorial, located in Johnstone Park, is a significant monument honouring those who served in the First World War and subsequent conflicts.
Officially opened in 1926, the memorial was designed by noted architect Joseph A. Dohring in a classical style, symbolising dignity and remembrance. Its columns and inscriptions commemorate the courage and sacrifice of Geelong’s servicemen and women, while also reflecting the community’s collective hope for peace.
The site continues to be a focal point for Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services, offering a solemn space for reflection within the city’s historic parkland setting.
