The Gordon is one of Victoria’s oldest and largest regional training providers, with a history dating back to 1887. Established through a gift from local businessman and politician Charles Henry Gordon, the institute was a launchpad for some of Australia’s most influential architects, including Percy Everett, Arthur Baldwinson, and I.G. Anderson. Many began their training in Geelong before continuing at Melbourne Design School, going on to design iconic buildings across Victoria, Australia, and internationally.
Today, The Gordon offers a wide range of courses in trades, technology, design, health, business, and community services, supporting thousands of students each year. With its heritage-listed buildings alongside modern facilities in central Geelong, The Gordon remains a cornerstone of education, innovation, and industry connection in the region.
